Blacberry 9800 is being launched on coming Tuesday


In the recently paidContent Mobile Conference, held in New York, John Albright of the BlackBerry Partners Fund gave a hint that Research in Motion (RIM), maker of Blackberry devices, is currently preparing for the release of a new touchscreen device which is expected to happen in August 15 via AT&T network, that is now called as Blackberry 9800 and some other gadget sites referring to it as the “Torch 9800”. According to Albright, this new device will be the first phone of Blackberry that will feature both touchscreen and a slide-out physical keyboard.


The Blackberry 9800 is believed to be the first device that will run the newest Blackberry 6 OS and it is expected to carry the same look and feel as most BlackBerry handsets except for its physical keyboard which is similar to that of the Palm Pre. Moreover, there were some rumors that this device will boast a 4GB internal storage as well as a 5 megapixel camera and it is not expected to have significant improvement in its performance aside from its RAM but it is highly anticipated to become a hot gadget to look forward to.

The Blackberry 9800 is rumored to be having the following specifications:

• 3.2 inch TFT Touchscreen with a 360 x 480 pixels resolution display

• Full QWERTY slide-out keyboard

• Touch sensitive optical trackpad

• 5 megapixel camera with Liquid Lens Technology

• Internal memory of 4GB, external memory of up to 16GB microSD support

• 512MB RAM

• 3G connectivity

• Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g

• Bluetooth 2.1

• MicroUSB 2.0, A-GPS and 3.5 mm audio jack

At present, information on its price is not yet officially available but there were some information that in New York city the online mobile retailer Mobile City has started opening its store for the pre-order of the BlackBerry 9800, at a price of $599.99.
